How To Perform A Garmin GPS Mount & The Many Advantages Of Magellan RoadMate 1700 GPS

Garmin portable GPS systems are a great low-cost alternative to vehicles with the built-in GPS systems. The package contains several options to attach the system to your vehicle. Things you'll need is Garmin GPS, Suction cup mount, and, Mounting plate.

Steps (do it yourself!)

1. Attach the back of the Garmin GPS unit to the ball swivel end of the suction cup mount. Place the suction cup mount against the windshield and press lightly.

2. Press down the locking lever to seal the GPS unit to the windshield. If you don't want to mount it to the windshield, proceed to next step.

3. Remove adhesive backing from mounting plate and press the plate against your dashboard. You may note that the adhesive on the plate is a permanent, heavy-duty adhesive that is difficult to remove once it is pressed into place.

4. Attach the suction cup mount to the plate and press the retention lever down to lock the mount in place.

Got a case of screen-size envy? You just might after seeing the Magellan RoadMate 1700 GPS. It offers a bright, brilliant 7-inch screen for a very reasonable amount. While it doesn't boast a ton of features, it's an excellent choice for anyone who feels the current crop of navigators simply aren't large enough. It's also a good pick if you're considering a stand-alone device in lieu of a much more expensive, built-in navigation system. And, what's more, it's ideal for SUVs, RVs, and other large vehicles with sufficient windshield or dashboard space.
